J-Tec Material Handling is part of the Katoen Natie group. Katoen Natie is a global logistics and applied engineering provider. To optimally serve its customers, the organization is decentralized in business units. Each business unit acts independently and offers its clients tailor made solutions.

J-Tec Material Handling is the process engineering business unit of the group, offering material handling and process engineering solutions to the industry market leaders, in the chemical and food industries all over the world. We build turnkey process installations for our customers. Our company always strives to make a difference in terms of inventively, flexibility and performance. We execute both green- and brownfield projects of different sizes with an average implementation time of one to two years.

We are a fast-growing company with an international team of more than 270 employees (and counting). We have offices in Belgium, Spain, Thailand and the US.

In Houston, we are currently building the foundations of a new Customer Care department to support our installed base across the United States.

This role offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic, entrepreneurial professional to shape and grow this department from the ground up. You will begin in a broad role that combines project coordination with hands-on fieldwork, with the potential to eventually lead a local team, define key processes, and build a fully operational service unit.

We are therefore looking for a hands-on technical professional who enjoys combining customer-facing coordination with on-site interventions and service.

As a Customer Care Project Officer, you will be the primary point of contact for our US-based customers after installation. Your role will combine the strengths of project coordination and field engineering.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate maintenance interventions, inspections, and technical support activities.
  • Perform hands-on service, maintenance, and commissioning on-site.
  • Provide both remote and on-site troubleshooting and technical advice.
  • Organize and conduct inspections of existing installations.
  • Identify and propose spare parts and critical components to customers.
  • Handle documentation and follow up on interventions and customer cases.
  • Collaborate closely with local colleagues and the central engineering team in Belgium.
  • Act as the key link between the customer and J-Tec’s internal departments.

  • You have strong organizational skills and can maintain a clear overview at all times.
  • You have broad technical interests (electrical, mechanical, pneumatics) and an affinity for process engineering.
  • You enjoy working in a practical, hands-on role, both in the field and in the office.
  • You are customer-oriented, proactive, and have excellent communication skills.
  • You hold a higher technical degree (Bachelor or Master) or equivalent through experience
  • You can work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • You are commercially minded and understand how to build long-term partnerships with customers.
  • Experience with process installations is a plus.
  • Knowledge of automation systems (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens PLC) is an asset.
  • You are willing to travel within the US and internationally.
  • You are fluent in English; additional languages are a bonus.
